Research shows that early talent identification can have detrimental effects on long-term participation in youth sports. To retain athlete enagement, coaches and parents need to establish positive sporting environments that promote fun and passion over early specialisation. Thus, coaches and parents must adjust their Talent ID processes and postpone introducing High performance practices and attitudes until the athlete is at an appropiate age, when it will be beneficial for the athletes development.
